If you’re reading this at two o’clock in the morning…
there’s a good chance your heart is carrying more than your words know how to say.
Maybe everyone else in your house is asleep.
Maybe you’ve been crying so quietly that no one has noticed.
Maybe you’re tired.
Not the kind of tired that sleep can fix.
The kind that settles somewhere deep inside your soul.
If that’s you…
would you let me sit with you for a little while?
You don’t have to explain anything.
You don’t have to tell me your story.
You don’t even have to pretend you’re okay.
Just…
stay.
For a few more minutes.
I remember nights like this.
The house would finally become quiet.
My daughters would be asleep beside me.
And instead of resting…
my mind would begin another shift.
Every problem I had managed to silence during the day would suddenly become louder.
The business.
The marriage.
The cruel words that echoed long after they had been spoken.
The fear.
The endless questions.
It felt as though every cell in my body had forgotten how to relax.
Even with my eyes closed, I couldn’t find rest.
My thoughts kept running in circles.
Some nights, I wrote until my tears blurred the ink.
Other nights, I simply stared into the darkness, wishing my mind would be still for just a little while.
Back then, I believed something that broke my heart.
I believed God had forgotten me.
I couldn’t find the words to pray anymore.
Not because I had stopped believing in Him.
Because I had forgotten how to reach Him through all the noise inside me.
So I cried instead.
For a long time, I thought those tears meant my faith had disappeared.
Now I know something different.
Sometimes tears are prayers too.
Maybe tonight you’re wondering the same things I once wondered.
“Why is this happening?”
“Why won’t the pain stop?”
“Where is God?”
I don’t have easy answers.
I never found them.
But I did discover something better.
God wasn’t waiting for me to say the perfect prayer.
He was already sitting beside me while I couldn’t find the words.
Sometimes we imagine prayer has to sound beautiful.
As though God only listens when we’ve arranged our thoughts into neat sentences.
But if you’re crying tonight…
if all you can manage is one whispered,
“Lord…”
Please know this.
He understands unfinished prayers.
He understands trembling voices.
He understands silence.
He understands tears.
You don’t have to earn His attention.
You already have it.
There were nights when sleep finally came, not because my problems had disappeared, but because exhaustion had won.
I would hold my daughters close and hope that, somehow, morning would feel lighter than the night before.
Sometimes it did.
Sometimes it didn’t.
Healing wasn’t a straight line.
But every sunrise quietly reminded me of something I couldn’t yet believe.
I had made it through another night.
Looking back now, I realize I wasn’t carrying those nights alone.
I thought I was.
But God was carrying me in ways I couldn’t yet recognize.
Not by removing every hardship overnight.
But by gently leading me, one morning at a time, toward hope.
So if tonight feels impossibly heavy…
don’t worry about tomorrow just yet.
You don’t have to solve everything before the sun comes up.
Just take one small step.
One quiet breath.
One simple prayer.
Even if it’s only,
“Lord… please give me strength.”
Then let God carry what you cannot.
Morning has a way of arriving even after the longest night.
And perhaps that’s one of God’s quietest promises.
The darkness is never the end of the story.
Thank you for spending a few quiet moments here.
May you leave carrying a little more hope than when you arrived.
With love,
